CT Child Photographer – Milestone session

CT Child Photographer – A milestone sitting session for Nolin!

I cannot say it enough – six months is the perfect time to update those milestone photos. When your little one is sitting confidently (but not crawling away) then their personality can shine and I can catch those amazing images. Nolin has plenty of personality and the cutest smile ever, so of course it was great to see him again. His newborn session was one of my favorites from last year and it was so fun to see how much he had grown. His eyes are just as blue but he has a bit more hair than last time I saw him.

Nolin’s Grandma made the bear so he needed to be part of the session. I like to encourage my families to bring in special items from home, they carry so much more meaning in the photographs. If you are interested in the milestone package then fill out the contact form and let me know.

Enjoy!

Baby Photographer CT – Welcome Nolin!

Baby Photographer CT – Welcome Nolin!

Nolin was celebrating his French Canadian roots when he came for his newborn session. His mom Kristin brought along a stocking and the NOEL blocks to get a photo of her Christmas baby and I think they worked out great. Nolin was mellow and sleepy, a perfect baby model. It was great to see Kristin and Ian again. We first met when I was a second shooter at their wedding! Kristin is tall, and a lot of her girl friends are tall, and if you have seen me then you know that I am really tall…..so of course I loved hanging out with them on their wedding day.

Congratulations on the safe arrival of Nolin – he is a keeper!

Enjoy!

Senior Photographer – NMHS Graduate Cameron

Senior Photographer – Congratulations to this New Milford High School Graduate!

I had so much fun with this senior session.

Cameron was awesome to work with and incredibly patient and mature for his age. Cameron and his mom Lisa wanted some traditional graduation shots (Grandma had requested the cap and gown) but they also wanted something fun and cool.

NMHS_senior_graduate_high_school__0003

They had recently moved from the area, so we definitely wanted to hold the session in and around New Milford. The high school was an obvious choice and our first stop, but I think some of the alley ways of New Milford were new to them both!

senior photographerA senior or graduate session is about communication. I learned a lot about Cameron and his interests; I wanted to capture his personality, his drive and his ambitions for the future. I have no doubt that he will live up to the “Future leader of America” pose outside of New Milford High School – he was a natural at it. New Milford High School requires standard photos with the school photographer for the yearbook but this special time in your child’s life needs so much more than those!

Good luck in college Cameron and let us know when you and your family are back in town for a visit.

Enjoy!

College Bound | New Milford, CT

Emily is college bound!

I remember the summer between high school and college. I remember that feeling of being in limbo – you are still at home and a child in your parent’s home, but college life, independence and adventure is right around the corner. The world is literally at your feet and your future is there for the taking.  I was honored to take photos of Emily just a couple of days before she left for college. She is an outdoors kind of girl with a great sense of style and we wanted to capture that in the images we took. I cannot wait to hear some of the stories of life at college. I hope she and her family will treasure these images of this very special time.

Stacey of Blush Couture did an AMAZING job of enhancing Emily’s natural features and we went for a “beachy” casual look. Professional make-up is so important at this kind of session, Stacey understands what works best for the camera while being really conscious of making Emily still feel and look like herself. It’s easy to look washed out in pictures and it just gives something a little extra special to the experience.

Whether a senior in high school, a graduate or college bound, wouldn’t you rather have these photos than the “school required” senior pictures?

Please share with anyone you know with a senior!

Enjoy,

Newborn Photos of Baby Tenley

Newborn Photos of Baby Tenley!

There is something incredibly special about meeting a new baby after having photographed mom for a maternity session. I just want to let that baby know that I knew her way back when…. I saw her stretching in her mom’s belly and now I get to hold her and snuggle her for a few hours. The connection is made….she has a place in my heart now.

My dear friend Sally of Sally Slack Photography was visiting from the UK with her son George, so in between days on Candlewood Lake, zip lining at Catamount and a trip to New York City, we did this session together; so I need to thank her for her patience in positioning Tenley in the most adorable poses. She is a talented newborn photographer based in Essex so if you find yourself in England in need of a newborn photographer then I can highly recommend her!

So here you go, here is the beautiful baby Tenley with her mom and very proud big brother. I have a feeling he is always going to have her back – he adores her already.

Enjoy!

Back-to-School Minis

Back-to-School Minis – dates available NOW!

If you are looking for a tie-die background then keep looking…..

I am afraid I don’t have lava or a fake mountain backgrounds either.

What I will have is a natural background and the focus will be on the kids in their first day of school clothes. You are welcome to use the props I have or add your own backpack, lunch box, trombone or hockey stick….. you get the idea. Come dressed and ready to go, there probably won’t be much time for complete wardrobe changes but you can add accessories to mix it up if you want.

Our kids grow so fast so I wanted to offer mini sessions to families who have kids getting ready to go back to school. It can be pre-school, elementary, middle or high school and you are welcome to include siblings – no parents allowed though, this is all about the kids.

Sessions include 20 minute shooting time (that will get you loads of shots for your online gallery)

Three digital files and a bonus gift print of each file (up to 8×10)

If you want more then additional digital images will be $40 each and all prints, products and packages will be discounted by 20%!

Maternity Photography – Candlelight Farm New Milford CT

Maternity Photography by Planet Photo

When you find out that your talented makeup artist friend is pregnant and she is up for a styled maternity shoot you can be certain that the creative vibes start flowing! Have you noticed that it has rained (or at least forecast rain) for the last four Tuesdays? That’s how long I have been trying to schedule my session with Lindsay – we finally settled on an overcast day last week but I think it’s safe to safe we certainly made the best of it.

I wanted to show that maternity photos do not have to just be cutesy, whimsical images, they can be a combination of your personality and our imagination. With a mix of natural light and off camera flash we achieved very different looks but each highlights the beauty of her pregnant belly in a different way.

So she shared the sex of the baby with us…. do you want to know if she is having a boy or a girl? Let’s play a little game.

Put your prediction in the comments and we’ll get back to you with the results in a few weeks. I know, hard to believe but Lindsay is actually due pretty soon.

New Milford CT – Sullivan Farm Family Photography Session

New Milford CT – Sullivan Farm Family Photography Session

I first met Kristina and Mike at the New Milford Tennis and Swim Club, our kids were little and setting up camp pool side was the easiest and most fun way to pass the summer. We would arrive and the kids would find the group their age and just jump right in, no formal play dates, no marathon texting sessions to see who was going and no stress.  I kind of miss those summers to be honest!

Now we are more likely to bump into them on the sidelines of a Bulls Football field or a cheer competition but the easy conversation flows and we are soon caught up. I had been talking to Kristina about family portraits and we never managed to book in advance but one day the stars aligned, it was Kristina’s birthday and they would be getting ready to celebrate that so why not just meet a little earlier and capture the smiles and love of this sweet family? We chose Sullivan Farm for it’s convenience and it’s beauty, it is a reminder of the farm town that New Milford was and a thriving part of the town today with maple syrup and a farm stand offering fresh and locally grown produce.

Family Photography

I always try to capture some individual portraits on my family sessions and love the images of Mike and Kristina alone – when was the last time you did that?

Brookfield CT Photographer – Baby Avery!

Brookfield CT Photographer – Welcome to a baby sister!

Avery Kathryn

March 28, 2015

Brookfield CT Photographer

Matt and Kate had never done newborn photographs for their older daughters, but they knew they wanted to freeze the moment when baby Avery Kathryn arrived. Kate brought Avery over when she was around a week old and we did some of the classic newborn shots that they had missed out on with the older girls.

A few days later the whole family came for a quick 10 minute session! Newborn sessions can be long, hot and a bit boring for older siblings so this is a solution I often recommend if a family lives close by.

A new baby is an exciting but somewhat confusing time for big brothers and sisters so I try to make a fuss of just them when I can. That wasn’t hard with these two! Avery has two very proud older sisters to look out for her.

I often hear that families wished they had taken newborn images or that it had been more popular when their first child was born. This shouldn’t stop you from photographing your new baby – take it from me (a fourth child) there will almost always be more images of the first born!!! There are ways to include the whole family and the older siblings are usually excited to show off their new baby. If a mom can take a break from the family for a few hours to come to the studio she usually finds it relaxing and stress free. Dad and the older siblings can either join us for the last portion of the session or we schedule a quick meeting at another time.

Congratulations to the whole family!

Stamford CT Photographer – twins!

Stamford CT Photographer – Welcome to twins Stella and Lola!

I was so excited to finally meet these little babies. I had been chatting to their mom through the last weeks of her pregnancy and we were all on “any minute now” alert for a while but when they finally arrived on March 24th they did not disappoint!! I was in awe of these perfect little beings and incredibly impressed by the family taking care of their every need!!

I have to say I had a hard time telling them apart but I know I am not the only one – at our reveal meeting even the parents had to look twice at some of the images. I have been lucky enough to photograph a number of families with twins but did you know that only 1 in 30 U.S births result in twins? I am sure they are going to have a lot of fun with that at school in the future!
