Happy Birthday Gemma

A sunset walk at Silver Sands for Gemma’s 3rd Birthday Portraits!

Gemma’s mom Joya never disappoints when she is planning for birthday portraits! Gemma had the most adorable dress for her 3rd birthday and it was amazing to catch up with them all again. Ā It got a little chilly towards the end of the evening but nothing that a snuggle in Daddy’s arms couldn’t fix. Does she look familiar? Here she is as a newborn, on her first birthday and on her 2nd birthday. I love watching her grow up.

Back to School Fashion 2016

Back To School Fashion Trends 2016

The Planet Photo Tribe at New Milford High School

Back to School in CT is the end of August so usually too hot for the fall fashion trends but for many middle and high schoolers planning out their outfits for the first week of school is what they look forward to the most!

So what can you expect to see in the classrooms this fall and winter?

Here are some of the Planet Photo model tribe with some of their favorite fall looks.

Long sweaters and cardigans seem to be everywhere and they are the cozy, wrap around your body style. Perfect with jeans or leggings but also adorable with a dress or skirt. Olivia paired her cardigan with jeans and Belle can extend her summer dress into fall by pairing it with a sundress and boots.

Military jackets, bomber jackets and khaki green seems to have found its way into a lot of fall wardrobes. I haven’t seen much camo but lots of military inspired looks. Olivia rocked the bomber jacket and Taylor dressed up her simple khaki green T shirt with cute accessories and a denim shirt around her waist for cooler days.

Sam and Avery look adorable in lightweight sweaters, with colored jeans and a summer dress and Belle’s wearing a long cardigan with raspberry colored jeans.

Look for pinks, purples, reds and mix them up!back_to_school_fall_2016_model_tribe_0006Back_to_school_2016

Cozy flannel shirts paired with jeans or shorts are perfect for fall. Avery proves that layering is always in style!back_to_school_fall_2016_model_tribe_0008
Overalls are back, relaxed and unbuttoned on one side for a casual look.

What’s new with shoes?….. try metallic, vans or retro styled sneakers. Boot season will be upon us before we know it.

Look for denim and faux suede, skirts, dresses or pants – you can’t go wrong.

Thanks to Taylor, Sam, Belle, Olivia and Avery of the Planet Photo Tribe for a great shoot! The clothes featured were a combination of the girls own with a selection of the 2016 American Eagle fall collection. Marshalls had the great long cozy sweaters and bomber jacket.

Have a great year girls!

CT Family – Welcome baby Greta

CT Family Photography

Welcome Baby Greta!

I was thrilled to welcome a new baby to this lovely family. I have followed Aine’s progress since she was a tiny baby to now; an energetic and enthusiastic, chatty big sister. It really is one of the nicest parts of my job to watch these children grow and change. Greta was a dream model baby and raised the question of nature or nurture one more time, was she so relaxed because she is number 2 or will it be part of her innate personality to be mellow??? I think some babies are born more relaxed than others but knowing what you are getting into and being able to interpret cues faster doesn’t hurt either! She really does look a lot like her big sister, I wonder if she will have Aine’s curls too?

newborn_photography_girl_lilac_sisters__0002

Doesn’t she have the most adorable mouth? It’s the details that we think we will remember forever that I love to capture. She will change and we’ll have the portraits to look back on.

newborn_photography_girl_lilac_sisters__0001

Look she smiled for the camera šŸ™‚

newborn_photography_girl_lilac_sisters__0003

So sibling shots are usually a combination of bribery, coaxing, distraction and a very fast shutter!!! Aine was busy and she has that extremely healthy mix of love and indifference towards her baby sister.Ā I am sure they will be great friends in the future though. There is nothing like the bond between sisters.

Congratulations to the whole family!

Couldn’t be cuter – Aiden – CT Portrait Photographer

Couldn’t be cuter….

Aiden!

CT Portrait Photographer

I met Nichole and Joe at Weir Farm in Wilton, CT. I seem to have been jinxed with bad weather forecasts when I book a session at Weir Farm so we switched our time to early in the morning and we did it again, we beat the rain!!! It was worth the gamble, I love it there.

wilton ct photographer

I love all kids (well most of them…. šŸ˜‰ but I can honestly say that Aiden was one of the cutest 7 month olds I have ever met. Usually I have to jump up and down, make silly noises and pull out all the stops for a baby to look in my direction, not the case with Aiden. His smile was turned towards the camera from the get go and he was such a charmer. Seriously, look at that little face!

A family session in an outdoor location is perfect for small children, we essentially went for a walk together and we got to hang out and catch up. I never want it to be stressful, I want the smiles to be genuine because we are having fun and the laughs to be real. The love between Nichole, Joe and Aiden was completely authentic.

I really hope to see this wonderful family again soon.

Enjoy!

Newtown CT Photographer – Erin

Happy Birthday Erin!

Three is a wonderful age. Filled with wonder, excitement, new experiences and expanded knowledge.

Erin has the sweetest voice with those little lispy words that you never want to correct – she’ll grow out of them all too soon, but for the moment it is so fun to hear them. Some days she wants to be Elsa and other days she is a mermaid but every day she is a totally adorable little peanut. We went for a walk in the woods and looked for ducks (but didn’t find any this time) and we made a quick stop on the side of the road for a field of wild flowers. It seemed like the perfect setting and she was an absolute trooper, even though some of the flowers were almost as tall as her!!

Happy Birthday to sweet Erin!

Do you remember Erin’s newborn session? Was that really three years ago?

Birthday portraits can be in the studio, with or without other family members and we can incorporate the interests of the child to make it fun, relaxed and natural. I had a great time walking and talking with Erin and she lovedĀ taking photos every now and again too! That’s a perfect session in my book.

Teen Passion Portraits – Samantha

Teen Passion Portraits in the studio – Meet Samantha!

Sam is fun, bubbly, social and non-stop action kind of girl but she brings AMAZINGĀ focus and dedication to the karate mat. I wanted to show you just a little peek at both sides of her personality….

Sam trains with her Dad at Modern Self Defense and Training CenterĀ

Teen sessions can be held at any time of year; either in the studio or on location (or both) and I love to highlight their personalities. Whether they are into dance at 10, karate at 13 and lacrosse at 16 or have had a pair of soccer cleats on since kindergarten, it doesn’t matter, everything is approached with dedication and PASSION! Capture those moments and celebrate them.

He is whip smart and has a great sense of humor but this is just a short introduction to his passion for dance and theater arts.

Portrait Photographer CT – Birthday Celebration!

Portrait Photographer CT – Happy 1st Birthday Aine!

I remember planning my children’s 1st birthday celebrations. It is a milestone for them but also for us parents….. we survived the first year of parenthood! One year olds are a dream to photograph and so fun to be around but we have to keep the pace moving because this time of intense exploration means that they are on the go during every waking moment. Aine was walking but she could still use a helping hand from Mom and her Grandma and I hope that image of their helping hands will become one they treasure.

I divide the birthday celebration session into 3 stages: the portraits, the cake and the tub. I have so many favorites from this session it was almost impossible to pick, but one of my very favorite images of 2015 is the first one in the sequence. I love the intensity of Aine’s stare and it was one of her family’s favorites too so I think we captured her in that one. You can see just how much she has grown over the year by checking out her newborn and sitting sessions. I hope to see her and her family again soon.

Happy 1st Birthday Aine!

Family Photographer New Milford – Almost a big brother!

Family Photographer New Milford – AJ is almost a big brother!

It was the end of the school year for New Milford Teacher of the Year Jen but we managed to find a time to take some family portraits of AJ right before he became a big brother. Jen and I have know each other a while now, she was both Sam and Olivia’s 3rd grade teacher at Hill and Plain School and still one of the teachers that all others are measured against. We joke that Sam still uses some of the learning techniques he learned in her class! It was while Olivia was with her that she got married and we are all so excited to watch her growing family.

A.J is a blond cutie who is starting to be really chatty. He loves his Swedish fish but you can already see how much he loves his Daddy. One of our favorites images of the day was the moment he realized that Daddy had arrived at the park – those are the expressions you can’t coax out of a child, they have to just come spontaneously.

Congratulations to Jen and Adam on your growing family!

New Milford CT – Sullivan Farm Family Photography Session

New Milford CT – Sullivan Farm Family Photography Session

I first met Kristina and Mike at the New Milford Tennis and Swim Club, our kids were little and setting up camp pool side was the easiest and most fun way to pass the summer. We would arrive and the kids would find the group their age and just jump right in, no formal play dates, no marathon texting sessions to see who was going and no stress. Ā I kind of miss those summers to be honest!

Now we are more likely to bump into them on the sidelines of a Bulls Football field or a cheer competition but the easy conversation flows and we are soon caught up. I had been talking to Kristina about family portraits and we never managed to book in advance but one day the stars aligned, it was Kristina’s birthday and they would be getting ready to celebrate that so why not just meet a little earlier and capture the smiles and love of this sweet family? We chose Sullivan Farm for it’s convenience and it’s beauty, it is a reminder of the farm town that New Milford was and a thriving part of the town today with maple syrup and a farm stand offering fresh and locally grown produce.

Family Photography

I always try to capture some individual portraits on my family sessions and love the images of Mike and Kristina alone – when was the last time you did that?
