Gilmore Girls inspired Mother and Daughter Photoshoot
Mother and Daughter Photo Shoot: Gilmore Girls
Plan a special visit to New Milford, one of the towns that inspired Gilmore Girls
First Stop on our Gilmore Girls inspired portrait experience was New Milford, Connecticut.
Step Into Stars Hollow: A Portrait Experience for Gilmore Girls Fans
If you’ve ever wished you could visit Stars Hollow, sip coffee at Luke’s, and stroll across the town green, you’ll fall in love with New Milford, Connecticut — one of the small New England towns believed to have inspired the beloved Gilmore Girls series.
As a portrait photographer based here in New Milford, I often see visitors light up when they recognize familiar landmarks. The gazebo, the white-steepled church, the cozy cafés — it all feels like stepping into the world of Lorelai and Rory.
A Real-Life Gilmore Girls Adventure
We began our session at Canterbury School, whose beautiful hill top campus and winding paths gave us Chilton-Academy vibes.
From there, we visited the historic church on the New Milford Green, then wandered over to the iconic gazebo, a true Stars Hollow symbol of community and connection.
Next came downtown New Milford, where brick storefronts, the Honeybee bookstore, and cozy cafés provided the perfect backdrop for portraits of this mother and daughter team. Of course, we couldn’t resist stopping by Theo’s Downtown Diner, a local favorite that feels every bit like Luke’s, right down to the steaming coffee mugs and friendly small-town chatter.
