50 over 50 2022 Edition

Meet the participants of the 50 over 50 Portrait Experience 2022 Edition.
In their own words……

Creative. Kind. Giving.

Like a friend said: ” Turning 50 is a cosmic joke, the way the body reacts”. I did not see too many changes but the skin aging. I did not gain weight or anything like that.
I will tell my younger self: “See every day as a gift, make the best of it!”
I would like them to look at my photograph and see a happy, elegant, kind and powerful woman…may be a little sensual.
I am one of ten children, “number nine”. I am born and raised in South Africa where all my siblings still reside. 25 years ago I immigrated to the US with three children and a husband. Learning English was one of the many challenges I faced. In the year 2005 we moved to England and in 2007 we moved back to the USA.
My biggest challenge was raising three children in different countries when my husband was traveling constantly.
Another greatest challenge was going through a divorce, keeping your head high while turmoil wants to sink you.
1. The way I raised my three children and yet with the challenges we all faced, I am so proud of who they are and what they accomplished!
2. I am proud of who I am period. I am proud that I stayed true to my own self.
So many things! My gardens! The beauty, nature and the animals and of course giving veggies to friends and neighbors. I am so please when relationships work! When I work with clay and I am in love with the end result, that brings me true joy!
I am having my first solo exhibit titled “Children of war”. I want my art too be my voice. This winter I will be working on a theme “Violence against women”
