50 over 50 2022 Edition

Anne Stark

Meet the participants of the 50 over 50 Portrait Experience 2022 Edition.

In their own words……

Reliable. Giving. Blessed.

  1. I would say turning 60 was when I noticed a change.  My youngest graduated from High School and went off to college, I sold my home of 25 years and moved to a less demanding home which also provided me with more financial stability and less stress all around.  I also decided to spend more time pursuing activities I wanted to try or try again as I had more free time.

  2. First of all it would definitely be for a glass of wine, much more relaxing.  I would tell her to take her own advice that she gives others, always give everything 24 hours, things often look completely different after 24 hours.  I would also say try to live close to family.  Lastly I would l say make sure you make time for yourself every once in awhile and don’t feel guilty about it.  You can’t take care of others if you don’t take care of yourself.

  3. I would hope they would see someone who has tried to take care of her body to be healthy so she can participate in and enjoy life.  I would want them to know that I am probably older than they think I am and that I  worked full time to support myself and my children for more than 40 years so far.  I would want them to know that I love my family, friends and granddogs.  I would want them to know that I am ok with being on my own.

  4. I am the second of 7 children and grew up in Upstate NY.  I learned that hard work is needed to take care of yourself and others and showing up each day is how you make things happen.  My mother taught myself and my sisters everything that you would need to know to run a house and raise a family efficiently and my father made sure we all had a college education so we could get a job to take care of yourselves and our families.

  5. Having been divorced and having 3 three children I found that to be a big challenge to provide for them and also take care of myself.  I also found that not living close to family made me have to rely on myself for almost everything.  Keeping a positive attitude and showing up each day makes a difference.

  6. Having 3 wonderful adult children now and taking care of myself.

  7. Spending time with my family, volunteer work, fostering dogs in need, cooking and entertaining friends and family and  listening to music.

  8. I have recently tried some old interests again including skiiing, skating and I hope to be able to go scuba diving again soon.
