Portrait Photographer Janet Taub

Let me introduce you...

Janet has a passion for creating legacy heirloom portraits for her clients.

Janet Taub is a portrait photographer living in Western Connecticut with her husband Mitch. Her two children have flown the nest, so there is more time for traveling, hiking and enjoying time with friends and family.

Janet has been taking photographs and creating portraits for most of her adult life, so she launched Planet Photo in 2013 so that she could also capture your memories.

Specializing in editorial style portraits of seniors and teens and their families, personal branding and headshots, and modern glamour portraits.

Our goal is to photograph the most amazing portraits you have ever seen of yourself. We do that through a styling consultation, guided posing during the photo session, and real time encouragement and feedback. We always strive to show you the best, well rested, polished, authentic version of yourself in EVERY portrait we create together.

We can’t wait to meet you and create legacy portraits for you and your family.

You really can stop here .....

……but if you are the type that always wants a little more of a deep dive, then here you go!

Janet was born in Liverpool, home of the Beatles and two world class football teams, but she grew up on the east coast of the United Kingdom in Cleethorpes. She got her first 110 instamatic camera there and started a love of photography and a collection of old cameras in the “antique” shops on the seafront.

Janet combined her love of children and travel and trained to be a Norland nanny – look it up, she really did have to wear that hat to college! After graduating she spent a couple of years working as a nanny in London, and then gave in to the draw of LA and moved to California.

The move to Los Angeles, with photography classes and a newly acquired Canon A1, further solidified her love for capturing special moments in time.

A detour to Boston for a corporate stint followed by a seven year move to Copenhagen adds an intriguing twist to her story. The exploration of early digital cameras and the eventual choice of a Canon SLR in Denmark highlights her commitment to capturing precious memories, especially those of her own family and children.

Janet and her husband have been in Connecticut since 2002, he is a scientist by day and a musician at weekends, so both are busy in their creative fields.

So that’s it – you are up to date.

Oh, there is just one more thing. I am a Nikon shooter now. And I love it!

I can’t wait to hear your story and capture portraits of the special moments of your life.
