You know sometimes one item is all you need to figure out your whole outfit. It might be a certain pair of shoes. You know when you get that feeling that you HAVE to wear those shoes today so you build your entire look around them. Can you guess the focal point of Taylor’s styling (apart from already knowing that we were continuing with the studio portraits theme we had been creating with black and white bold outfits…..) If you guessed the white boots you were close, it was actually the black and white striped tights! I have had these stripy tights in my mind for a shoot for ages and I was SO excited to put them to good use so we started with those and built Taylor’s outfit around them. Because….
I knew the minute I announced the river portraits date for the Planet Photo Tribe that there would be a rush to sign up! There really is nothing better than ending a hot summer portrait session in the water and I am always thrilled when a client wants to do that. We wanted a soft, floaty pink and green theme for our group and I was thrilled when one after another the girls arrived with these wonderful floaty river outfits, we added a couple of things from the Planet Photo Style closet and we were all set. Right at the last minute we added the flower crowns to a couple of images to tip us over the edge 😉
I hope that my clients can use these Tribe group shoots as inspiration for styling and location tips to help create their own individual portrait shoot or if you want to create a group shoot with a small group of your best friends then we can do that too. I look forward to planning every session and I strive to make each one just a little different from the last! I love to incorporate your ideas, your favorite places and to highlight YOU! We are lucky to live in such a scenic part of the country so it is a treat to incorporate some of Connecticut’s natural beauty in each shoot.
Thanks to Kinsley, Olivia, Taylor, Bella, Isabelle and Sam for bringing your “A-game” to our river shoot!

Litchfield CT Photographer – Averill Farm Apple Orchard
Emmy and Amanda wanted to surprise their Dad with some different photos this year for Father’s Day. They knew they wanted to wear their ballet outfits from last months Studio D recital so we just needed a location. I had been keeping my eye on the apple orchard at Averill Farm to catch the trees at peak bloom and the timing was right. When I suggested this to Jen, the girl’s mom, she was all over it. Like so many families in the area they have often visited Averill Farm and had already formed their own special family memories there. So now I was excited……
Amazingly cute sisters….check!
Stunning location with a special connection to the family….check!
Permission to photograph amongst the apple blossoms….check!
Now we just needed a beautiful spring evening with blue skies, fluffy big white cloud. And we lucked out. The day we picked was perfect.
Jen tried to tell me that the girls hate having their photo taken, but of course they proved her wrong and they were amazing! Cooperative, fun and totally willing to go for it – in short they were a dream to work with. I love it when a plan comes together and most of all when the location has a special meaning to the family. It’s not just about photos – it’s about capturing a memory and I think we did just that.
So, Happy Father’s Day Rich – you are blessed with a beautiful family and they obviously love you very much!
