Frequently Asked Questions – Seniors and Teen Portraits

FAQ – Seniors and Teen Portraits

When should I book my senior session?

The most popular time is the beginning of senior year. The fall is always beautiful in New England and lots of people want fall foliage but you do not have to go with that style! Location shoots are somewhat weather dependent so we need to be aware of that and schedule accordingly. The sooner you book the more flexibility I will have in my schedule. If you school accepts submissions for the yearbook then book your session at least 4 to 6 weeks before the submission deadline and I can submit directly to the yearbook organization.

Why do I need senior photos when I get them at school?

Simply put…. have you seen the school senior photos? A Planet Photo Senior session is a true representation of who you are and what your interests are. We style and plan the session to showcase you! Everyone is unique, why not show that?

I won’t have a cap and gown if I book a session in the start of my senior year.

No problem! If you have already done your senior session then I will offer a day when you can come in with your cap and gown and get a graduation shot in the spring.

Do I have to be a senior to book the Senior Portrait Experience?

Of course not! Teen sessions can be booked at any time and are often booked in conjunction with birthday milestones, double digits, teenager or sweet sixteen. Entry into the We are the SEEN model competition is only available to High School Seniors though.

Do I need a parent to come with me for my shoot?

It’s up to you if you want a parent to be present throughout your portrait session although they usually would like to be there! Parents are required to come to the pre-session consultation and the ordering appointment.

Can we shoot outside and in the studio?

Of course! We figure out all the details of the location and look of your shoot at the consultation.

Why do you have a minimum purchase?

A lot of time and effort goes into planning the senior portrait experience, minimum purchases give you an idea of your photography budget. Packages and payment plans are available.

What do most people spend?

Some spend the minimum some spend $4000 – every family is different. I make suggestions to keep within your budget and still get you the products you love.

Do you offer destination sessions?

Yes! I have a passport and I love to travel but time and life can sometimes get in the way, so obviously we need to discuss the details. Give me a call and we can talk about it.

Can I invite a friend or sibling to my session?

Yes! If you want along one friend or sibling for moral support then no problem….I can always use an extra assistant 😉 but think about how you feel having your photo taken in front of your friend. If they are going to make you self conscious then meet them towards the end of the session. I find that groups of friends are a distraction for everyone though and I would strongly advise against a crowd, after all your senior portrait experience is all about YOU!

Why do I need to book a consultation?

Details, details, details! I will help you plan out the look and style of your session. We choose the location and discuss clothes, I love it if you bring your wardrobe ideas with you. I can help add the layers and details that add interest to your images. Your style will determine our location choices, if you have an edgy style then a field of wild flowers might not be our first choice! I love to discover new and interesting locations that mean something to your family but I have a list of places that might work for you.

When do I get to see my images?

10-14 days after your session you come in for your ordering appointment. I help you choose the images that will work for you and your family. I have samples of all manner of wall art, albums, a portfolio box of matted prints and I can help you design a wall collection for your home.

Will I be able to share my images on social media?

After your ordering session I will provide a custom app for your mobile phone of the images you have selected so that you can share it with family and friends. I can also provide social media sized files.

Will I get an online gallery?

After we meet for our ordering appointment, and you have placed your order, the images you have selected can be shared via an online gallery for family and friends to order directly.
