Meet Janet Taub
Since 2013 Janet has been passionate about creating legacy portraits for her clients.
I live in Western Connecticut with my husband Mitch, our two children and a dog named Penny and I have a blast capturing memories and moments in time through my love of photography. I live for the seconds between the “real” shots, the stolen moments when you are not posing and the genuine memories happen. I want you to see what I see, and I want you to have a portrait of it forever. I have been taking photographs for most of my adult life and after gaining a ton of experience in a busy wedding and portrait studio over the last few years, I launched Planet Photo in 2013 so that I could also capture your memories.
I specialize in portraits of seniors and teens and their families. But I also love to create authentic branding images for your small business.
You really can stop here….. but if you are the type that always wants a little more then here you go!
OK….. I was born in Liverpool, home of the Beatles and 2 world class football teams, but I grew up on the east coast in Cleethorpes. I got my first 110 instamatic there and started my love of photography and my collection of old cameras in the “antique” shops on the seafront.
I loved kids and I loved to travel so I studied to be a Norland nanny – look it up, I really did have to wear that hat to college! After graduating I spent a couple of years in London and then gave in to the draw of LA and moved to California. Photography classes and a heavy, but totally awesome Canon A1, and I was bitten hard by the photography bug.
After a year in Boston in a more corporate environment I got engaged and ….moved again. Further east this time, Copenhagen Denmark, and a job in an investment bank – it couldn’t have been more corporate than that. I experimented with one of those early digital cameras but I was not convinced (can we talk about shutter delay???) so I went for the Canon SLR to get the great photos of my kids that I will treasure for ever.
We moved to Connecticut in 2002 and I have loved the balance of family, photography, gardening, cooking and outdoor stuff like hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter. I am fluent in Danish, I love my gym buddies, movies and binge watching Netflix shows and I am addicted to Starbucks, JCrew, Kate Spade bags and connecting with my friends and family around the world.
So that’s it – you are up to date. Oh, there is just one more thing. I shoot Nikon now. And I love it!
I can’t wait to hear your story and document the special moments of your life!
